Martin Howard, Associate Dean for Global Affairs in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences at the University College Cork (UCC), Ireland, and Zhang Bei, Director of the UCC Beijing Office, visited the College of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on December 13. Chen Hao, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Zou Liling, Director of the College of Foreign Languages, Wang Huimin, Deputy Director of the Department, relevant staff from the Office of Foreign Exchange, Cooperation and Information Technology Construction, as well as student representatives, attended the meeting.
Firstly, Chen Hao extended a warm welcome to the guests and briefed them on the Faculty’s historical milestones, the major developments in the Department, and its talent cultivation and international exchange and cooperation programs. Martin Howard and Zhang Bei described the organization and major design of the UCC, its talent cultivation program, as well as faculty and student development programs. Following that, Zou Liling and Wang Huimin described the organization of the College of Foreign Languages and Literature, its curriculum design, and talent cultivation programs.
Both sides had in-depth discussions related to faculty member visits, academic research cooperation, and joint education of undergraduate and graduate students, and expressed their common aspiration to establish mutually beneficial and friendly relations. The representatives of the Faculty and College expressed their hope to take this visit as an opportunity to deepen the ties between the BJUT Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the UCC College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences.
