About FHSS

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of BJUT is composed of eight teaching and research departments, i.e., the College of Social Sciences, College of Social Work, College of Law, College of Foreign Language, Undergraduate English Teaching Department, Graduate Public English Teaching Department, Institute of Higher Education, Beijing Intellectual Property Institute (Beijing Intellectual Property Research Institute) .

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has four undergraduate specialties including Sociology, Social Work, Law and English. And Sociology and Social Work have been selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate specialty programs. The faculty also has three master's degree programs in sociology, pedagogy and foreign language and literature, and three professional master's degree programs in social work, education and law.

The Faculty has 202 faculty members and 988 students which consist of 654 undergraduates and 334 graduates.

Job Description


Work Type: full-time

Department/Unit: College of Foreign Languages, Undergraduate English Teaching Department

Position: English Teaching staff

Duties:

1. No less than 16 teaching periods per week for undergraduates’ Cross Culture Communication or Academic Oral Communication lectures or for undergraduate English majors’ Oral English;

2. To revise and polish papers from faculty or students and some English documents;

3. To participate in the construction of English website and the polishing of pamphlets if necessary;

4. To do some other work such as joint research work with Chinese teachers if necessary;

5. To engage in additional activities to foster cultural understanding on campus.

Qualifications:

1. Master degree or above;

2. Majors in English linguistics and applied linguistics, language pedagogy, English literature, higher Education etc.;

3. Under the age of 60;

4. Over 3- year English teaching experience in China preferred;

5. Native speakers with language teaching qualification preferred.

Department/Unit:College of Social Sciences

Position: Sociology-related teaching and research Staff

Duties:

1. No less than 6 teaching periods per week for undergraduate courses, including ‘Migrant study’, ‘Study of community’, ‘Academic Writing’, etc.;

2. To apply sociology, Social policy and social welfare group to publish one SSCI paper as the first author or corresponding author; to apply for one project at the provincial or ministerial level or above; to assist in supervising two postgraduates;

3. To assist in sociology discipline construction, discipline evaluation, platform construction, etc;

4. To revise and polish academic papers, to assist in exploring the international collaboration with overseas partner universities.

Qualifications:

1. Ph.D. degree;

2. Majors in Migrant Study, Study of Community preferred;

3. Under the age of 60;

4. A substantial academic background in Migrant Study or Study of Community teaching and research;

5. Over 1-year teaching experience in China.

Terms of Appointment

Appointment to the above positions will be on a one-year fixed term basis, renewable by mutual agreement based on the teaching evaluation.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
