Kam Cheong LI Pays Visit to Faculty’s Institute of Higher Education

In order to further strengthen cooperation and exchange with overseas universities and expand the space for disciplinary development, the Institute of Higher Education of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences received a visit from Kam Cheong LI, Dean of the School of Open Learning at Hong Kong Metropolitan University on the morning of December 5, 2023. An Zhefeng, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Su Linqin, Dean of the Institute of Higher Education, Zheng Juan and Zhang Youliang, Vice Dean of the Institute, Zhang Wei, head of the Education Master's Degree Program, and Zhu Heling, head of the Master's Degree Program of Education, also attended the meeting. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on relevant topics of cooperation.

An Zhefeng, on behalf of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, extended a warm welcome to Kam Cheong LI, and discussed the history, educational organization, location, faculty, and the basic demographics of the students at Beijing University of Technology and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He expressed his wish to further strengthen cooperation with renowned universities abroad, to promote the development and ensure the win-win results for both sides in humanities and social sciences education.

Su Linqin introduced the developmental history of the Institute of Higher Education and its disciplines, graduate education, faculty, and think tank construction, and gave special attention to the three provincial and ministerial research bases related to the Institute. She hoped to further strengthen cooperation with the Hong Kong Metropolitan University in talent cultivation, scientific research cooperation, and academic exchange, so as to promote high-quality development of higher education in all relevant disciplines.

Kam Cheong LI presented the developmental history of the School of Open Learning at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, its offerings of majors, scientific research, and the basic demographics of its students. Kam also expressed the willingness of the school to develop cooperative programs with Chinese mainland universities.

The attendees had extensive exchanges on how to promote substantive cooperation in joint application for international projects, hosting international conferences, offering joint master's and doctoral programs, and establishing international academic journals for individual faculty members and the School as a whole. They intend to further clarify their plans for cooperative programs in the future.
