Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho Visits Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice-President of Lingnan University, Hong Kong, visited the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of BJUT on the morning of October 5, 2023. An Zhefeng, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Faculty, Tang Jun, Director of the Faculty, Chen Hao, Chen Feng and Qi Shuyu, Deputy Directors of the Faculty, Li Sheng, Head of the College of Social Sciences, Xing Yuzhou, Head of the College of Social Work, Su Linqin, Dean of the Institute of Higher Education, Zhang Youliang, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Higher Education, as well as relevant staff from the Office of Foreign Exchange, Cooperation and Information Technology Construction, attended the meeting. Both sides had in-depth discussions on the exchanges and cooperation between the School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of BJUT.

Firstly, An Zhefeng, on behalf of the Faculty, warmly welcomed the visit by Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho. He introduced the attendees from the Faculty and the profile of the Faculty. He hopes that the Faculty and the School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University could expand their versatile exchanges and cooperation on the basis of existing cooperation.

Subsequently, Tang Jun introduced the growing course and current status of the Faculty, and provided a detailed introduction on the Faculty’s construction and development, institutional settings, teaching and research organizations, teaching staff, academic teams and platforms. Both sides are expected to deepen their collaboration for common development on the basis of major construction and discipline development.

Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the reception of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and stated that the Faculty and School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University have enhanced mutual understanding through signing an agreement on joint cultivation of graduate students and through jointly hosting international conferences and will embrace greater opportunities for future cooperation. After that, Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho informed the audience about the history, enrollment scale, teaching force, organizational structure, and major settings of Lingnan University, hoping to maintain long-term exchanges and cooperation with the Faculty in joint cultivation of students in bachelor’s, master's and doctoral programs, teacher exchange, scientific research cooperation, and publishing of international papers.

Attendees also had in-depth discussion on discipline construction, talent cultivation models for students in bachelor’s, master's, and doctoral programs, teacher exchange programs, sharing of development resources, and expansion of cooperation and exchanges. Professor Mok was highly impressed by the status quo and blueprint of various majors in the Faculty, and hopes that multi-dimensional, multi-level and all-round exchanges and cooperation with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will be carried out in the future.
