On the afternoon of January 6, 2022, a team of faculty members of the College of Social Work, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences paid a visit to Beijing Sheyuan Media Ad Co., Ltd. (Hereinafter referred to as “Sheyuan”), and had a discussion with Shu Yang, General Manager, Liu Xin, Executive Director, Ning Jie, Consultant of Research Office, and Shu Xianting, Business Director of Research Office. Professor Yang Rong, Associate Professor Xing Yuzhou, Head of the College, Dr. Sun Puyu, Associate Head of the College, Associate Professor Han Xiuji, Associate Professor Li Xiran as well as Dr. Ge Ling, Dr. Wang Yuhui, Dr. Guo Shihong, Dr. Li Xi and Dr. Wang Xiaoran from the College of Social Work participated in the symposium.
At the symposium, Shu Xianting introduced the development process and main business of Sheyuan. Founded in April 2007, as the largest and most powerful community media and social think tank in China, Sheyuan has nearly 400 employees, and trains a large number of excellent "social workers who understand news" and explores a distinctive development path by combining the modern media with social work in grass-roots community governance. In addition, Sheyuan has set a R & D center, which mainly focuses on grassroots CPC building, social governance, grassroots consultation, cultural governance and other matters to carry out policy interpretation and research work, and is committed to providing decision-making reference for grassroots CPC committees and governments at all levels.
Xing Yuzhou, Head of the College, introduced the talents training and scientific research of the College of Social Work. The participating faculty members made speeches in turn according to their research directions and areas of expertise, and both parties made extensive exchanges on the internships and specialty development. At the meeting, both parties reached a preliminary consensus that they will explore a normalized communication mechanism around issues such as training practice, supervision and construction, research and cooperation, jointly promote related works based on their respective advantages, and explore a collaborative education mechanism to serve the development of the industry.
After the symposium, Deputy General Manager Liu Xin led the faculty members to visit the office space of Sheyuan, and introduced the related products of the company. Among them, the self-developed Baner APP is a social software integrating the functions such as neighborhood socialization, mutual assistance, convenience service and activity organization. This APP has been used in Anzhen Street, Chaowai Street and other areas. As of January 6, 2022, there were 107,958 registered users of the platform, and this App has become one of the important channels for residents in the jurisdiction to share their life trends and express their needs, deeply impressing the faculty members.
For a long time, social work institutions such as Shutong and Shukang affiliated to Sheyuan have kept good cooperation with the College of Social Work where Zhang Meisheng and Shu Xianting serve as students' internship supervisors and thesis guidance experts, while Professor Chen Feng, Associate Professor Wei Shuang and Dr. Ge Ling of the College of Social Work serve as institutional consultants and project experts. On this basis, the construction project of BJUT - Sheyuan Production-Education Integration Collaborative Education Base for Social Work Talents was approved by BJUT in August 2021, and both parties signed the agreement of campus practice base in December. Taking this as an opportunity, the College of Social Work, in combination with the university policy and under the overall arrangement of the faculty, strengthens the construction of the practice base outside, and continuously promotes the exchanges and cooperation between both parties in talents training, scientific research and social services.
